can anyone tell me what to remove to replace the engine air filter? the dealer said i should let him do it it doesn't look so bad-just how do i get the hoses and electrical plugs out of the way is there a "trick" to this ? thanks

You don't get them out of the way, you stick your hand in, unhook the clasps and open the box...

the top of the cover is screwed on and there are many other connections on the cover my 88 was like the cover you are thinking of
the first law of car buying: dealers are crooks. if you go into auto zone(don't buy parts there) they have little repair books for many models. it will show you exactly how to handle these simple chores. never let a dealer do something to your car that you could learn to do yourself.
