Power Window problem

2000 Camry,

Driver's window goes down fine, but sounds like it's laboring coming up. Does not look like an obstruction, but having trouble getting door panel all the way off. Motor bad perhaps? Thanks

I have an Australian 99 Conquest. I had same problem. Ended up putting in a secondhand one from the wreckers. But discovered the problem is the pivot point on the mechanism. If you get the 'regulator' out which is not too difficult. You may be able to toghten this pivot point by using some shims. The slop in this pivot causes the motor to not engane the gears correctly, hence the noise under load (going up). You may also get by with some silicone lube in the glass tracks/runners. Luck.

Try silicone spray in the side channels first.

Which part of the door panel are you having problem with? If you are having problem getting the door handle off just pry up with a small screwdriver where the handle pivots on top and bottom and when the handle has popped out of the pins bias it towards the rear of the car and it should come out in your hands. Now you remove the three screws holding the handle in place and then you will be able to remove the panel. Peel back the plastic cover slowly so not to damage it, you might have to use a sharp utility knife to separate the adhesive from the door. Now you can work on all the inner components of the door and window.
