Ratchet Size

Hello,

I'm about to pick up a couple rachet heads...(don't want the expense of a full set) What would be the size needed to remove the oil drain plug in a four cylinder Camry 99' LE? Don't have any of the necessary documentation around me unfortunately...

It's probably a 19mm (could be 17, also. Get one of each?)

I sent the last msg before I tought of a quick test. If you have a 3/4", the tolerance is just about that of a 19mm. Try the 3/4 for fit only, don't put a lot of pressure cause it may strip the nut. If it fits, you need a 19, if not, then 17.

99% of the nuts and bolts on a Toyota are 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm,

I agree. The most critical ones are the 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 14mm.

My 97 Camry LE 4 cyl is 14mm.... I think you mean sockets, not rachet heads.... Socket sets can be had very cheaply or you can spend more and get some guaranteed forever for more money... I still have a set of tools from Sears Craftsman I bought almost

Might want to pickup socket set with metric and sae sockets. Should be able find one for around $20-30. I will cost you more in long run to buy each size separately. Or just buy a adjustable wrench.

Sockets will grip the head of a bolt or screw better than adjustable or open-ended wrenches.

Sears (Craftsman) has a set on sale 8 mm through 19 mm with a 3/8 drive ratchet for 14.95
