Cigarette Lighter - 12 volt power with car off ?

My wife swears that before we had a new radio installed, her cigarette lighter did not shut off when the car was shut off (she claims her cell phone charged all night). After the radio was installed - the lighter is dead when she shuts off the car.

How does your 95 Camry lighter work? Is she right or wrong ?

Thanks,

Mike

P.S. I hope she's wrong (haha)

I haven't had a Toyota yet that had a lighter on all the time, except for whe I 'rewired' them myself...

In my late 94 V6 (assembled here in Oz) the cig lighter is dead when the ignition key is out. It needs to be on Acc position. I had a Tarago the same.

She is .................Toyota designed the car to work as you decribed.

one small step for man,..... One giant leap for attorneys.

She is. I hope she hasn't been smoking something she shouldn't have been with that lighter (he he).
