Time Belt

Service records would be nice - let you know the last time done. You can examine the accessory belts as a proxy for the timing belt. Usually, the alternator and power steering belts are replaced at the same time, because they need to be removed for access to the timing belt. I believe the general recommendation for the 1999 Camry is 90,000 miles, or five years. That should be 145,000 kilometers. Earlier models were 60,000 miles, apx. 97,000 Km. There are repair manuals, both aftermarket and original factory manuals, that detail the maintenance procedures. Usually spark plugs are replaced when timing belt is done, and there are a number of other items to check: transmission fluid, ball joints, charcoal canister, etc.

It's 90-K miles on the 2000 4-cyl, and that is the same generation as the 99. Bob
