88 4Runner not getting gas.

I have an 88 4runner with a V-6 5-speed. It has been sitting for about 6 months since I started it last. Yeah, the gas is turning bad. In times past after it had been setting, it would start on 4 or 5 cylinders and after a few seconds would start hitting on all cylinders and run fine after that.

This time it will not fire unless I shoot it with starting fluid and it will not keep running when the fluid is used up. I checked all the fuses that I could find and they were good. It appears that I am not getting any fuel to the fuel rail as I loosened the banjo fitting and there wasn't any gas there to leak out.

Do I have to remove the tank to get to the pump? Where are the wires that power the pump so I can see if I have voltage? Where should I check next? Thanks to you all.

There should be a connection in the diagnostic to make the fuel pump run. Before that, check to see that the flapper on top of air filter is moving - this controls when the pump runs after it starts. Good luck. Ed
