'97 Camry 3-CD Changer Error Sign E-02

HELLO EVERYBODY. I have a '97 camry with a 3 cd in dash changer. The magazine is lodged in the deck but it's in the "change" or "outward" position (not inside the deck in the playing position). Does not work. I keep getting Error Sign E02. Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem. Thanks. BOBBYZ

I had a old Sony 10-disc changer that used to get confused where it was in the load/unload cartridge cycle and freak with error messages. The solution was often to remove ALL power sources for several minutes and let it go through all the 'reset' checks when it powered up from dead. It would then figure out that it had a cartridge halfway ejected and either suck it in or finish spitting it out.

If that fails, you may have to take it out of the dashboard and CAREFULLY extract the cartridge with hand tools. If you can, try to get all the gears into either the 'cartridge fully out' or 'cartridge fully in' position through spinning the drive motor with a pencil tip, and watch for any jamming or "sticktion" in the gears and tracks. Then apply power and let it try resetting itself.

If it has anything mechanically broken inside, it's either send it in for factory service (where the little elves have access to the Top Secret repair instructions and parts) or junk the radio and buy another. The little gears and piece parts are usually not available separately for more than a few years, and even then are a bloody fortune and a pain for an outsider to order.
