CD error - 2005 F150 CD Changer

Was loading CDs in the 6-CD changer when this error came on. Now it won't play, change or unload CDs. It gives the CD error code and quits. Anyone know what's up and how to fix it? How involved is it to pull the plastic trim and replace the CD changer?

While I'm on it, how big a job is it to replace the factory speakers with

6X9 speakers? Will they fit at all or is 6" round all that will work? TIA. F

They can tell you what speakers fit your truck.

If you bought it new (depending on when you bought it) it may still be under warranty.

Same thing happened to my 2001 Ranger. I never fixed mine, as I ended up resolving the problem by switching to my I-Pod instead of dealing with the factory CD player. The I-Pod is plugged in via an adapter to a 12V dashboard lighter (roughly $100), and it plays through the truck stereo system through a preselected FM station. I was skeptical about this arrangement at first, but it's done away with the inconvenience of messing around with CD's in the cab, and I've never had to worry about the cold of winter affecting CD player performance. This may not be the solution for you, but I thought I'd mention it just in case you are familiar with mp3's and I-Pod units.
