While getting an emission inspection, I discovered that my rear brakes were not working. After checking my lines back from the rear drum, I discovered that I am not getting in pressure from the proportionng valve to my rear drums. I have some questions:
- Is it possible, that the valve is functioning, but it simply thinks that their is no weight in the rear? If so, what is the procedure for adjusting/calibrating it?
- If it is broken, can I fix it myself? How complicated is it? My repair manual says that this is a part that is best worked on by the dealer. Is this true? Where can I find any diagrams (exploded views, rebuild directions etc.)?
- Would this account for a severe shuddering in the truck when braking?
- Can anyone point to information specific to this beast? I have been unable to find any pricing information online. For that matter, none of the parts sites, that I have been to, seem to even be aware that this is part of the brake system.
Essentially, can anyone recommend a next step, game plan, alternatives etc...
