Squeak-proofing a Topper

We've got a nice, heavy, color-matched fiberglass topper on our T100. As the temperatures have dropped to more normal winter levels, the truck has developed a symphony of different squeaks, all coming (seemingly) from the topper/truck interface.

Anyone got any experience tracking down and eliminating these noises? Maybe Teflon tape between the offending parts? Silicone spray? Graphite?

Turn up the stereo?

you didn't put heavy duty weather stripping between the topper and bed rails?? 1 1/2 inch wide and 5/16 inch thick works well with mine.

If it's a pressure gasket interface between the seal on the topper and the back wall of the truck cab, the Teflon tape on the back of the cab where the seal contacts would be the simplest and best bet to try, as eventually the seal will wear the paint off the back of the cab.

Anything you spray on will only attract dust and grit, and serve to accelerate the paint-removal buffing properties of the seal.

It would be more effective if they had a slack seal with a ring that clamped to the truck back window surround, but to do that you have to remove the windows to make it an open pass-through to the shell.

With the fuel tank back there, and winter temperatures in Ohio, I really don't think you want to do that...

There is also supposed to be a thick foam tape seal for the truck bed to shell interface, to reduce the squeaking and eventual paint damage there.

Hey, if all else fails...

Your topper seller has a variety of cap-to-bed gaskets and cap-to-cab seals. Most of your noise probably comes from the cap-to-cab seal. Simply tightening the topper down should fix any cap-to-bed squeaks.

Yeah, there's a 1.5 inch wide rubber strip all the way 'round between the cap and the bed rails. We made sure it was in place properly when we lifted the thing back onto the bed, so I don't think that's what is squeaking.

It must be a contact point between the back of the cab and the front of the topper. I'm going to have to inspect that more closely, and see if there's any place I can stuff a piece of that weather stripping in...

Thanks!
