Tows up to about a 5500# travel trailer or 5000# 5th wheel trailer very well. Mileage...not great, about 10-13. Real tow rating is 11,800# GCWR, truck and people weighs about 5000#, so 6000+# is withing GCWR, but that's a lot.

Be sure you have an air-cooled transmission cooler, supplied on all V8 automatics through '02, then only on the '03s with the tow package, but any transmission shop can add one.

Don't tow in overdrive. I greatly prefer either the Tekonsha Prodigy or Jordan brake controllers. I also prefer the Hensley Arrow hitch, but if even a used one is out of the budget, the "Equal-i-zer" and Reese/Draw-tite dual-cam hitches seem to work better than the usual friction sway damping bar. McKesh mirrors work well.

I seen in here awhile ago about not towing in OD, and I vaguely remember the reasoning, could someone repost the reason why not to tow in OD? At what trailer weight should you not tow in OD; 500, 1000, 2000lbs, or more?
