1914cc Fast Engine!

Sorry, I don't know where to get them new. I paid $175 off eBay(tm). Someone bought it cheaper, and I emailed to buy it after they got done using it for $175. Pretty good deal in my opinion. The first one I ever bought was $225 used, and it didn't even fit. That was about 3 years ago though.

Ok more update.. I am not the new proud owner of a fiberglass dune buggy. The state of NC requires it to be notarized.. we took the title to the bank, had it notarized.. I went to the DMV, they said their was no record of the VIN since the vehicle was so old.. They had to have an inspector come see if the VIN matched.. he shows up and says the vehicle has to be complete and pass safety inspection in order to get a title. I explain why would I dump money into a vehicle that I don't own?? He said their was no papers or anything he could give me to get it in my name.. that I'd have to get the vehicle bonded.. what is this bonded?? insurance if the vehicle ever kills someone?? and then apply for some homebuilt title.. Too bad for me.. I knew this might happen. The body and roof, and 2 engines is worth what I paid.. I am not putting money into something that they could deny.. or the previous owner could get back with another title before I get the new title.. senseless.. unless anyone has a suggestion.

If I still had my SC license.. all I'd have to do is get the car insured (haggerty online $100 a year), and go get a title. They don't inspect the vehicle aslong as you get it registered with a license plate.. now I have a NC license.. I am screwed.. the title is filled out to me, and my NC address.

This buggy needs EVERYTHING. I was even going to buy a gas mig welder.. I can't spend the money to make it road worthy just to hope to get a title. I need to be garanteed a title.

Any suggestions?? I can't even sell it, because it is not in my name. So I am selling it for scrap and parts? My question to the officer was if I even needed the title and vin.. because I said I had seen square tube frames for sell on the internet, and they make dune buggies out of them. He aggreed.. and said that I could get a title on that type of frame, or my Dune Buggy even without the VIN or previous title. Some homebuilt title? He said they'd asign a new VIN, because my Dune Buggy was not a Volkswagen.. the title says Make: Volks, Model: Dune Buggy.. He says it is no longer a VOLKS since the fiberglass body mods etc.. so they'd have to reasign a title, vin, and everything anyways.

Here is what I figure.. the PO had a 1961 Volkswagen Convertible Bug.. he got that title.. afterwards, changed the body.. never re-titled.. but here's the ball buster.. my title says Model: DUNE BUGGY.. says convertible too.. and he has a paper proving this Dune Buggy had a license plate in MA in 1992 with that same make, model, and VIN. NC says it can't say Make: Volkswagen.. because it is no longer a Volkswagen.

Could I maybe apply via mail for an MA title?? Has this ever happened to some> Ok an update.

Update.. sold the Dune Buggy.. washed my hands of it. I did buy Lincoln Gas Mig. I needed it anyways.

Jan?? You've reccomended an 041 head. I have searched for info on a head with 42x37.5 valves. I can't find anything except one person say the valves are too big? That they will lose port velocity and bottom end. True? The set of heads are new, and only $300 shipped.

Is the 041 head with 40x37.5 pretty much set in stone as the best option for a reliable 1914cc street engine? (Yes I used the word reliable) I am having second thoughts and plans changing.

041 should be 40x35.5, no? At any rate, that would work great for you.

A 42mm intake valve in a small cylinder like the 90.5, will not flow as much as the same valve in a larger (94mm) cylinder, because the cylinder wall gets so darn close. It does flow more than a 40, but if you don't need it.... why spend the money?

If your plans are to later make further changes for noticeably more power, you may want to go with the larger valves.

a mere 2mm increase in my opinion should not "kill" port velocity or low end torque. Too big intake ports however might do that.
