3/8 whit threaded rod!.

Useful stuff. Bent one double to make a U bolt to compress trailing arms when I did my ball joints and then eventually gathered enough courage to try and extract the bottom half of my broken fuel pump intermediate flange. Ground/cut/shaped one end away to form a "L" shaped lip so I could pass it down push rod hole and catch on the bottom of flange. A Tube spanner to slide up and down as a impact weight against a nut/washer on top end of rod.. Gradually it eased out, bliss. One small fragment broke off. Hopefully it doesnt cause any problems. I,ll give the car an oil change soon hoping to catch any fragments. Whilst gainfully employed I thought I would try and nut out why my

009(newish)/1600 wont stop "pinging" unless I have it about 3deg ATDC. TDC on No 1 corresponds with TDC on timing wheel. Still cant figure it. Runs perfectly well apart from slight usual 009 flat spot. Ah well, I suppose its entitled to an idiosynchracy at 40 years old on original engine. At last change I put Molybond into engine oil. Used it 40 years ago but the problem then was it just settled in the sump into a black sludge. This new stuff claims it can now stay in suspension. I,m sure its not the placebo effect but car has never run smoother. Starts with less noise. Runs with less noise. I,ve had this car for 15 years and I,ve never had it running better. Its taken about 2000 km,s on Molybond to get there but I,d definitely recommend it. Cheers John
