'71 bus eating generators

even had a new voltage reg. stick and ran the battery down. Last trip , the windshield wipers were "running" fast and then on comes the light. I thought I smelled the generator burn. what is going on here. a short? I get no spark when I connect and disconnect the ground to the battery. what gives?

g adds. MONEY , what a concept

Look on my web site for: "How do I test my generator?" Do those tests and it will decide whether the gen has failed or not.

had a similar experience--- clue was that the dome light would light up a runway !!

ate two generators, turned out to be the voltage regulator sticking. at the time, the regulator was 17$. so now, if i change the gen., i change the voltage reg. if it is an unknown age.

good luck bob
