are the brake calipers interchanageable

IIRC, they are not. The drillings for the mounting bolts are opposite. In any event, the catalog shows 2 different parts:

If you mean left to right, I believe the only difference is the rotational position of the pistons. Once they are positioned correctly they are only correct for one side.

Look behind the pads. You should see the face of the piston which doesn't contact the back of the pads in a full circle. The place where the piston doesn't touch faces the side of the caliper where the rotor is entering, when the bus is moving forward.
