counterclockwise type 1 engine?

Hello all, Quick question for the experts out there..

Does a conversion kit exist, or has anyone ever managed to make a type

1 engine run counterclockwise? I understand most just flip the ring gear in the transaxle, however we're trying to mate a type 1 to an application that will require counterclockwise location.. Thanks in advance

I have a chevy corvair engine with the VW trans kit.

Or you can use a Porsche 914 trans

yeah the Corvair engines is too big for a Beetle but it really blends nicely in the Laser 917 kit cars. ;-) You could sneak it into a Karmann Ghia or maybe the Type 3s and 4s though.

What are you creating/modifying?

BTW AFAIK all/most of the aircooled Type 1 engines run CCW already. Remember that we are usually looking at the rear of the engine. ;-)

Have you considered a chevy corvair engine? I think those run counterclockwise. And make more power.
