Electric gremlins revisited

OK, thanks to all who helped recently. Car starts & runs Hazards now work fine. Indicators do not. All wires in correct place.

To remind you, its a '74 ('73 model year)1200 std UK bug. If the hazards work, then I assume the flasher relay works as well. I do think that the hazard switch may have fried slightly,as when I check continuity in circuit for the indicator switch, I get the following.

I have been following the wiring diagram for 1200 72/73 on vintagebus.com.

The blk/grn/wh is connected to blk/grn and the blk/wh at all times, wherever the switch position is. If I disconnect the blk/grn and blk/wh from the hazard switch, the continuity works like it should. All fuses check out OK. The green and red at the hazard switch both have 12v (ish) when ign is on.

This thing is driving me mad, and I am getting very frustrated any help would be very much appreciated!!

Here's a simplified dwg of the Hazard switch:

are 2 fuses feeding it, depending on whetherthe switch is in or out. (Fuse #'s may vary) Measure voltage on 49+ with Ignition turned On. Should be 12V whether the Hazard is in or out. Make the measurement with the indicator switch either Left or Right.

vintagebus.com.

Thanks Jim, will do. I have obtained a replacement hazard switch and a new relay while on half hour lunch, which I thought quite natty :-) Both fuses have been replaced. 30 is hot all the time, 49 is hot when ign on, I think. Will check when I get home

Thanks again

Make sure the outside indicator lamps work too. The flashers won't work if the lamps are out, or worse yet, intermittant.
