congrats on second place... how do *you* feel about Mario trying to claim your work as his? he has done this before and the fellow stepped forward and asked him to remove his cars' picture from his website and to stop lying about doing all the work to it.... do you think it's acceptable that he is using your work to try and perpetuate his lies and to attract more victims?

Thanks dave for the complements on the car.I have had vws on and off for many years and then kinda got out of them for some time.I ran across this one and thought it would be a good project since I have never had a convertable before.It turned out to be alot more rusted and alot more work than I had thought it would be.This is the first one I have ever done a body off.That was something different in itself.LOL The body was about the only thing that really was in pretty good condition.I have allways done my own body work as I have an old truck that I have customized right much,but its still in primer also.LOL I always take pics kinda from start to finish ( if I ever get there ) I dont think I will ever do another one as far as I did this one,thats for sure.Hope you get the conv. your looking at.Again Thanks for the complements

I will have to restore a 1970 Beetle Sedan for my daughter in the next 4-6 years. I need a nice size garage to get started so I will be looking for another place probably.

How long did it take to do the body off restoration. I know your convertible takes longer than a Sedan but at least that would give me an idea about how long it might take. ;-)

AND are you planning on driving this one everyday? ;-)

Took best of his class several times including last Jan at Greensboro, plus one Farmington show he took his class and promoters choice Manuels 66 ghia took Rockingham show for best paint and engine before it was sold Neil Pickets 58 hard top deluxe is about finished up with 70% of my sheetmetal work still there there's a thread on the samba on it Scott Kaush's 55 23 was in paint and sold for 25k to Cali. The black 79 vert we did sold for 11 k before it had the chance to be show, Thats fully restored not 9 k with rust everywhere. The 68 Charger i did took several local muscle cars meets and it was a complete resto from the ground up icluding paint before i retired from painting This list doesn't include the ones that aren't completed and still in progress. Expect my 61 15 walk thru to show up next year in primer or semi matched paint. With who i have coming back to work in a couple weeks expect alot more to show up including the 52 zwittwer and a chop top

I'm not sure about what others think, but I'm thinking the above partial list is more impressive than Mario "winning" second place in a two car field with a poorly resprayed ghia(have links to pics) or "winning" second place with a car he didn't do the bodywork on.... But I'll let everyone make their own decisions. LOL

Hey Dave,I think it took me around nine or ten months to compleat the bug.I drive it right much,but not every day as I have other rides to drive also.Seems everyone here wants me to jump in and just talk s*it.I am not going to on this forum.I can do my talking face to face if I feel so.I got into all this JUST for having my car painted!! I wish everyone would just leave my car out of this now that they know the true story.I know how it was built,I know what went into it,I know what is under the paint.( I was there every few days checking on it ) I have heard and read everything that has gone on.( about Mario ) So everyone can now go on as it was,but leave me and my car out of it.....

Dave, I think what everyone was wondering was just what did he do. If you did all the metalwork you should be in great shape. Paint can be redone easy enoungh if you were to have problems. When you have to go back to square one like Joan would have had to do after spending 9k it just leaves you kinda hopeless and helpless. I think what most are saying is since you did the work and he's implying he did everything, then that should get you pissed off but hey its up to you.
