Flying to buy a bug.

Anyone ever fly somewhere where bugs don't rot to get one and drive it home?? To get a clean one for a cheap. You think changing the oil, new points, alternator belt , grease the front end is about all you need to do to get it home.

Anyone carry a gallon of water in an antifreeze bottle in the trunk as a joke?? If I get one I'm certainly going too. :):):)

That's exactly what I did about eight (?) years ago. Flew to Denver from NY and then rode overnight on a Greyhound bus to Grand Prairie and then another one to Silverton. Slept there one night at a motel and then drove my newly purchased '77 bug back the next day. Took almost 48 hours to drive back and actually got a speeding ticket in @#$ %^&*Indiana. Brought along tools but never needed them. Still have it but thinking of selling after all these years.

Tim, your situation was unusual because you (and the rest of us) knew the seller was competent and honest, and certainly not desperate for money. He wanted you to have it.

Glad you still have it!
