Does anybody know if the GL4/GL5 gear lube have the corrosive agents that destroy the transmission syncronizers? I have never been able to find just GL4. Thanks - Bob

Do you have a NAPA near you? Or a Car Quest? They both have GL-4:

Even if they didn't, couldn't you just have a FLAPS clerk order some? They usually can get stuff within a couple days, in my experience.

It has been discussed ad naseum on the net in a variety of foras, and the general consensus is that the GL4/5 no longer is corrosive to yellow metals. But IIRCC the straight GL5 should still be avoided as some brands could indeed be corrosive.
