How much you think?

Question

I was thinking...... how much would it cost to build a stock 1600 DP  (69x85.5 34pict3 carb, points/condensor stock valves and heads including a stock pressure plate/clutch disc/throwout bearing, header, sheetmetel ... like the one I just had built including heater boxes!) motor starting with nothing. Using all new parts. You would have to order all the parts.  No getting parts from friends.  No using parts that you had laying around. No cheap parts. (oh yeah no skimping and ordering a short or long block to start it either...)dw

You mean I only had to give them beans?  ; )    Yeah, its easy to get to spend a grand just on the lower end on a stock motor.  Imagine some of these big type 4 motors going for like 5 grand for a complete engine?!loldw

I spent $900 building the bottom end and cylinders of the engine that's in my Baja right now. With new heads and misc it was about $1500 total. I can't find the receipts so I don't know for sure. On the other hand, I started building it 8 or 9 years ago then picked up a parts car with a good engine and shelved the project for several years.

The race balancing job was worth every penny. I don't drive it hard but there aren't enough O's in smooth to describe how it runs.
