its all about the oil!!!

so i've had an oil leak for a while now, and am quite anoyed by that, so the other day, after procrastinating for a long time, i got underneath my bug to have a look.

it looks like the oil is leaking from the cover plate of the oil pump, so i tried tightening the nuts, 3 were tight as can be, the last one was not. i kept tightening it, but making little discernable headway, i looked closer, the stud (i think that's the word, for a thread that is screwed into the block) was turning together with the nut. so i guess it is loose. and i don't know what to do, ok that's a lie, i have too many ideas, help

1: could i take the whole cover plate off. renew the gasket and somehow get that stud screwed in again. if yes, how do i screw that stud in?

2: should i get that stud out and simply bolt in a bolt with a normal hex head and leave my cover plate on with 3 studs and one bolt?

3: is it likely that just getting the cover plate safely on willfix the leak, as it is literally now spurting oil since i tried to tighten that nut down.

4: any other ideas?

thanks guys

....you need to pull the pumpscrew the stuid back i9n and retorque the pump/covber toy spec. You will need a pump puller to remove the pump. Use loctite 518 (Thanks Jake) on the back side of the pump and no gasket...use the gasket and a little sealer on the front. Use two nuts locked together to run the stud in and break them free. torque nuts to 14 ft/lb. This is also a great place to use sealing nuts.
