Hello - Here's the condensed story: bus worked fine, clutch went. Decided to put new engine in - took it for a spin. Had problem with clutch cable (long story) end result was it went again so I jammed the bus through the gears to get it home (arghhh) Now everythings running hunky dory again engine wise etc but it will NOT go into 1st while it's stationary. I've just been playing with the clutch and it goes into 2nd, 3rd and 4th fine. The gearstick appears fine - not bent in any way - even the ball joint. My knowledge of gear boxes is zilch so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas other than the gearbox is kaput! I read on the groups that if the clutch isn't disengaging completely that it can be real hard to get it into first - what I basically want is some simple suggestions to try first (for example the two bolts that hold the gearstic were lose and it was pushed right forward - I moved it right back still no luck) before I go and enquire about a new gearbox. As far as I know the gearbox is the original!? Cheers Jim
