OT Old Comic Books

Not VW related but is anyone into collecting old comic books. I have a collection of old Shazam Comics starting with the the first issue in Feb 1973 up to No32, and several of the large size collectors editions from that time frame. Also have several of the large size collector editions of Batman, Spiderman etc. Anyone know if they are worth anything? Could possibly be VW related if they are.

I'm over seven years away from my comic shop back issue buying/selling days, but I doubt they're worth a lot. The Shazam series has never been very collectible and those "Collector's Edition" reprints are indeed reprint books. Both the Shazam and CE books are sufficiently valuable that if they're in very good shape and you can find the right buyer you may be able to get a couple of hundred dollars for them - not a lot for a few dozen comics, but not bad for a few dozen old funny books. You may want to find a Wizard magazine and peek at the price guide (check it out before buying it, though, because they don't list prices for ALL comics and the ones you have, since they're not in high demand, may not be listed). Good luck.

I just did a search on ebay, and found an auction of the first edition of the same comic that ended on Sunday with a high bid of $11.50. Guess that first edition won't be financing my restoration as I had hoped. Oh well at least dreams are free. o)
