Not sure bout the noise thang,.................But.............I do see where the one piece windows could be useful.

If the car is often left in public parking and you have decent stereo or if your car is likely to be stolen for whaever reason, the single glass is good theft deterent. as we all know it's next to impossible to secure a beetle wing glass. ( John willis has a nice wing glass lock I'd like to have, but he only has the one, and we have not seen another anywher. Looks to be a universal type lock...........John, post us a picture.................LOL

I vote : Vent Window. It's the only A/C that you will most likely have on a VW.

Not only do you reduce your ventilation options, but they dont seem to seal as good as replacing your vent wing seal and scrapers and the felt channel, the 1-piece window will reguire you to replace the scrapers and felt channel anyway. That and your door seal is what is making the whistling noise. It might get expensive to replace all of these, but it will increase the value of your car, as well as weather proofing it. It snows and rains alot in N. Utah, right? The 1-piece windows will decrease the value, and are more trouble than they're worth from my observations.

I vote for vent windows too. The one piece kits I've seen (and installed on my car) were all more trouble than they were worth. The only bonus was the looks when they were closed. When they were open, even slightly, they would rattle. And the door, once the innner metal bridge is hacksawed off, will start "ballooning". The window slot will start to expand at the middle and allow water and squirrels in...

lol, vent windows are a cost advantage, how? u ask....

when someone goes shopping for a new stereo and decides on urs, then they simply pop ur vent window rather then beaking your nice tinted one piece window in a million little shards of glass you spend 30 min cleaning up in the morning cause ur in a rush since your running late to work......

been there boths times my bug was broken into with both setups

one piece ones look good but they rattle to no end , fit poorly. now not to say that a good installation and using good parts they can operate well

Didn't the original Beetles have one piece windows? I guess those German engineers weren't satisfied and changed them. Must have been those squirrels. No offense "Rocket J. " :)

Ahhh, now that everyone mentiones rattling, it's all starting to come back to me. I remember mine rattled a lot and I hated it. I think I will keep the vented windows- it's practically my only source of AC in the car and I love chrome on my car.

Yes they did. The window lift mechanism was different.

The front edge of the glass had a "dip" in it, so that it would work as a vent window type of thing when the window was cracked slightly open. The "dip" would only be closed when the window pushed deep into the felt groove.
