Super beetle oil cooler located in front?

This is a follow-up about external oil coolers mounted under the bonnet for a super beetle. I asked this question last week and got some great replies, but I'm still stuck on how to do it.

Scott H. gave me these links:

That guy is going through the tunnel to the front, and that's what I want to do too, but I don't know what the proper pipe size should be, nor what oil cooler to use.

3 or 4 of the 24-plate #3080-10 in series behind the grill might work, I'll have to get the dimensions of the grill to see. With them/it mounted behind the front grill I shouldn't need a fan (in theory).

For the 2 feed lines I route through the tunnel, whether they're solid pipe or stainless braided line or that nice goodyear blue hose, I know I'll need to insulate them.

I'll be entering the tunnel here:

Where I'll exit in front, I don't know yet.

What size hose/line should I use? Porsche 911 uses 1", but they're a dry sump system. It's probably post the relief valve anyways. My system can see 250psi, but I'll be using a temp bypass so flow is only forced up through the cooler when the oil is actually hot. I don't really want to lose a pressure drop across the long run up and back from the cooler.

Maybe I should compromise and say if normally one uses 1/2" line when the cooler is in back and porsche used a 1" line for reasons unknown, split the middle and use 3/4" ???
