Take the cap and rotor off. Twist the rotor shaft. It should twist several degrees forward and snap back under some spring power. If you have the dizzy out of the car, spin the shaft and listen for crashing noises indicating a spring may be missing, or weight is not sliding correctly. Check initial advance...should be 7.5 deg. BTDC, plus 1 deg. for every 5000 feet above sea level. Check total advance. Should ALL be in by 3000 RPM. Limit total advance to no more than 32 degrees, preferably, 28-30. Hope this helps! ~Anthony
