I've heard there is a difference between a tow bar that fits a Ghia and a bug. apparently the nose is longer on a ghia and the bar is a bit longer. How can one measure this.?

I never had a problem towing a Beetle/KG/Thing with my tow bar. It was the only one available decades ago when I bought it. ;-) A low hitch helps too!

Probably towing in CA is the same as towing in IL but about towing legally in CA......I Know Nothing! ;-)

ODD since the KG front axle beams are the same as the Beetle front axle beams.
for some reason the tow bar didn't fit my Ghia. the up ward "U" 's were just a little too far apart width of torsion tube wise. Maybe inch & a half. what did it fit?
the only dif I've ever heard was the steering box mounted differently because of the dif angle, er lower steering column angle. Apparently the bracket was turned up side down to change the position of the box.
