UH-oh, my turn sig canceller ear's about to break OFF

anybody have any idea who sells this part of the steering wheel?

click on second thumbnail to see what's worn out...

this thing's the "plastic part with a brass ring and the turn signal canceller ear attached" part that fits behind the steering wheel (held to back side of steering wheel with three screws). part number unknown - the number's not on the part (though there IS a vw logo on it, interestingly)

maybe I'm gonna have to buy a used one? I can see it now: here's the text ;-)

"seeking good used turn signal canceller ear. ideal candidate would have been on a 71 bug owned by someone who had a religious conviction _against_ using their column-mounted turn signal switches EVER...."

might happen ay? :-)

No idea on who sells it, but why not just build up the worn spots with some JB weld and sand it smooth? Failing that, try contacting Kochs

they sell 'restored' steering wheels and I would imagine they could sell you just the contact ring by itself.

I suspect that this same part is used on almost all beetles, and likely type 3s also. Very early cars might well be different, but I would expect anything from the late 60s-on to be the same.

I've never seen a worn one before. They normally just rub against another nylon part, so there's little wear. If you can't find one, I probably have one on a broken steering wheel here.
