I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. (With thanks to Dr. Demento)

You ask so many questions. Which answers should I choose? (With thanks to Dr D and Tom "T-Bone" Stankus.)

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bed post overnight?

Another one rides the bus.

So what does a geeg sinus block look like?

I glanced through the posts, so let me post on opinion.

I installed a hitch on my Saturn Vue, I f'd up the wiring (google alt.motorcyle.sportbike). The dealer fixed MY SCREW UP, no charge.

Service, that is what I pay for, whether it be the sportbike, old dirt bike, old VW, home plumbing, etc.

I think you all ride the short bus.

Does anyone remember "Fishheads"?

The "rolly-poly" ones?

Dead Puppies?

Baby Sh*t?

The list goes on and on...

How Bare Bones are we talking here????

I am all for a car with seats, brakes and a good solid engine, no airbags, no ABS, No carpet, No A/C, but with decent tires ( like they used to make),..........and I think that bare bones cars should be upgradeable like computers. But only after the initial purchase. Not the way their selling the Scions,...............This would also help in the price of , and the quality of add-ons. Competitive nature and all............

The Federales won't let you buy a car without airbags now. ABS is pretty much standard now. That's part of the reason new cars are so expensive. If Beetles were required to have ABS and airbags, they wouldn't have been $1595, either.

This is understood at time of original posting. My idea is to get the government out of the automotive safety business, and let the consumers and manufacturers hash it out. If the government gets involved, it's gonna cost us all. No matter what it is. Google HEALTH INSURANCE for more info....... why it's so high.

I'd give a Dr. Cash if the rates were in line with the work done and offered. And would appreciate it much. But since the government has been in the medicaid/medicare business, health industry providers have been doing their level best, to screw the government out of our tax dollars. This was not available til the FEDS got involved. Then, the doctors insurance went up due to everybody suing doctors for malpractice, even though they would have died without the doc, he's indebted to them for life because he saved 'em,...........and other such BS................

I think The givernment should stick to protecting us from other govenrments. Not from ourselves. Protect us from wrong doing, not give us someone elses money because we had an accident. We should either have insurance for ourselves or not, and either pay for our health care or not get any. Nowadays..............Oh SH!!!!

I'll just stop now. I know i'm thinking too clearly fot the US government. I will just continue to put my vote in the least damaging place if at all possible...........

................Be careful what you wish for Scott. In the 'good' old days, we had charity hospitals where medical students could learn how to be doctors by practicing on poor people. In rural areas, you got some pills and went home to see whether you were going to pull through. In the single provider systems administered by the govts. in western Europe they've gone back to sending the too sick and elderly home with some pills until they get better or die. Our system is expensive but we're a rich nation and there's worse things than medical care to be wasting money on unless you really meant what you said about govt. protecting from other govts. and nothing else. The Feds have made it so that no hospital has the right to turn you away when you're seriously ill, regardless of who you are or where you're from or how much money or insurance you have. They'd lose those medicaid dollars and go out of business if they tried it.

That's what I'm talking about, too.

Do you know that at one time you could actually buy GMC vans and Suburbans like that in Detroit? They sell empty vehicles to custom-van/truck makers. Cheap! Bolt in a driver's seat, put a knob on the shifter, clamp on some ear protection and drive it away.

Lest Tim jump in here before me, let me tell what I learned. When I about amputated my thumb a couple months ago, the medical bill to reattach it was $19,000. Then the insurance company reviewed the bill and lowered it to $8,000. (My share is considerably less. ) See, the insurance companies have clout. I just wonder what the hospitals would do without someone watching them like the insurance companies do. Or maybe the hospitals would become reasonable. HAH!

Dunno, Scott. I'm puzzled, kind of sitting on the fence on this one.

Oh, really? When I was operated on for the hand, I asked the anesthesiologist for a local block. (I hate general anesthesia!) He said, "What do you know about blocks?" and I gave him the short version, "Three injections under the upper medial here, here and here. Go in until you touch the nerve, asperate, inject." He was so impressed, he brought in the students and a second surgeon to watch. It was a teaching hospital called the Mayo Clinic. :)

Yes. I saw that when I lived in France.

Some things are a bit much, though. When I had abdominal surgery just a few weeks ago (don't ask!), I asked the doctor not to be a hero and go with a laparoscopy (a fancy word for using a cow tool you can get at Fleet Farm), "Just open me up so you have plenty of elbow room so you can see what you are doing. I don't care what I look like in a bathing suit." He said it wouldn't be any cheaper - everything is rated at the premium anyway. :( S*it, he did the endo/laparo/cow scope thing and I still don't look so hot in a bathing suit and it still hurts a little when I laugh. Shutup!

Tim, they super-glued my skin back together. I suggested the same in '65 and they laughed at me. I suppose Elmer's glue wasn't really state-of-the-art back then. :)

..................Not in this life you old fart.

timmy

....lol

............Kraft processed cheese food (velveeta) is the modern version of Elmer's.

Straighten up youngster or I'll pedal my bicycle to Massachusetts (or whatever unscheduled, strangely spelled state you live in... Connecticut?) and make you cry Uncle!

They put me together with fake cheese? That would explain the wicket farts after surgery, eh?

............Binghamton, NY. And the hills here would wear you out on that bicycle.
