Today a scrap dealer called me that he had a beetle engine in. I went to look, not a beetle, looks very similar though. Block looks like a 1600 but large gear in the center instead of pully, flat distributor, on heads are 2 valve covers with each a rocker arm, so one rocker arm per cylinder. Also cylinders like a beetle, each pair of rocker arms is driven by a sawtooth belt and looks like it has timing marks on the gears. Looks aircooled, no water in and outs but i may be wrong there. Guy keeps it aside, pics on request, just curious what it could be. Any ideas?
