Local club is very often a good source, espesially in West Coast, here's some lists of clubs:

Or friends if you already are a member of a club.

A rumor spreading the word of a buyer is quite efficient, I've found two of my three current cars that way: A friend calls me out of the blue and says that "I saw a VW for sale and you were looking something like that, right?"

Very helpful. :)

(Third one is from the family, mostly inherited, not really bought.)

What part of the world do you want to look in. I have a pristine '72 in the Midwest. $4000. As is.

Check the VW place out in Streetsboro, ohio. Take the pike-80 E & get off at Rt.# 14 ,the VW place is right by the turn pike ramp. They do repair & have a few bugs & busses for sail. I took my trike up there & he took my carb apart & cleaned it & didn't even charge me. He just wanted to take the trike for a ride. He is now building one for him self.
