240-760

Hi, all!

I plan to buy a 760 GLT. Having lots of parts remaining from a 240 GL (no turbo), I'd like to know if I can take the 240 engine in replacement (in case of a breakdown).

I suppose the pressure difference between the 760 turbo engine and the standard 240 engine forbids the use of the 240 engine with the 760 turbo?

If someone can confirm or give me precisions about the engine (in?)compatibility...

Thanks

Which engine is in the 760 and which engine is in the 240? I suspect that the 240 is B200 and 2Litre, the 760 Turbo engine is usually B230E/FT and

2.3Litres. If the 240 was a B200 Turbo engine there would be little problem as power is only 10bhp down on B230Turbo.

All the best, Peter.

The engine itself is pretty similar other than the turbo version having a much lower compression ratio, but you'd have to get the entire fuel and ignition systems, exhaust system, airbox, intake plumbing and other parts from a non-turbo 700 for it to work. Those engines are pretty solid, but if you ever do need a new one it's much easier to get one from a turbo car. If you put the turbo on the standard engine you'll grenade it.

If he's in NA, the 240 GL has a B21F or B23F depending on the year and the

760 has a B230FT, unless it's an '84 which has a B23FT. No other motors were available.

OK, thanks!

So, I better forget using my 240 engine and start looking for some 700 parts, just in case...

thank you again!

Look for interior plastic parts and research the process of redoing the headliner, the engine in a 4 cyl Volvo is usually the last thing to wear out.
