My son has a 1.7 turbo, G reg Volvo 440, which has a noisy gearbox. Is it a DIY job to replace the gearbox and if so how long does it take approx? Thanking you in anticipation of all replies.

replace the clutch while you're at it. It will take 5 hours minimum with hoist etc.
