30,000 check up

My 2000 Volvo S-40 is due for its 30,000 check up. When I called for an appointment, they told me the price would be $860.00. WOW!!! What in the heck do they do to the car for that much? I think that is alittle high. I am a lady, and I feel that I might be getting taken advantage of. Should it be that much?

Well young lady, you have to understand that on the S-40 at 30,000 miles in addition to changing fluids and checking specs. we need to balance the dual turfingators. This job in itself is quite time consuming and adds about $500 to the job.

Seriously, I am not familiar with the S-40 however on my 940T a major service including valve adjust, timing belt change and tranny flush only runs about $600. I don't imagine the S-40 needs as much at 30K. Check around. If this is from a dealer check with some independents. Howard

Don't know the car at all but that seems incredibly high. Our 960 has never costed that much for a routine service, only when broken stuff had to be done at service time... Even with a timing belt, steering rack, 128K service, brake caliper replace, and some more stuff we were over $1000 Canadian.

That works out at about £573! WOW I think you could find a better price from a non main dealer even using genuine parts (which I always advocate)

good luck
