My 1988 740 will occasionally lock all the doors when you just pull slightly on the drivers side ouside door handle. This is a bit of a problem when you have left the keys in the ignition. Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it.

For one thing - don't leave the keys in the ignition. (:>)

On a more practical note the locking is operated from a set of contacts which react to key movement in the lock. I would take the door card off and inspect the wiring and switch by the lock for anything untoward (the switch may have become loose and be shorting out intermittently, or the wiring may have got caught on the door's metalwork and be shorting so that the switch appears to operate).
