940 clunks / snaps when i backup up with the wheel turned

Any ideas?

I does it with the wheel turned in either direction.

Have you seen your kids/pets/spouse since you first noticed the clunk after backing up?

Aim straight, put the brakes on, hang out the front window and watch the LF wheel as yiu move foreward and backward. Does the wheel move with respect to the car? If so change the strut rod bushings (two cone shaped rubber disks on each side) Easy job with the correct wrenches. Brickboard has the procedure.
