Help: Volvo S40 2.0t (lpt) 2002 wastegate mod

Hi all,

How much one turn of wastegate actuator affects into boost level? How do you make your MBC (manual boost controller) and which hoses I should connect it. There is red, yellow and green hose coming to somekind of boostvalve?

I am about to increace boost level a little bit, but I am not sure that which method is the best one. Does stock 2.0t low pressure turbo boosts about 0.6 bar? I am thinking to increase boost level about to 0.8-0.9 bar (stock +0.2-0.3 bar), can somebody estimate how much is the power gain(kW / Nm) ?

Thanks for answers,

T Jantunen

The maximum boost is set by the computer varying the duty cycle of a solenoid valve that bleeds pressure from the wastegate actuator. Turning up the boost this way will just cause the computer to release more pressure from the wastegate actuator, and will give you no benefit, as far as max boost goes. However this modification will maybe affect how quickly the first bit of boost comes on, depending on how loose the wastegate actuator is set. To turn up the boost you either need to remove it from computer control (manual boost controller) or reprogram the computer.
