V 70 2.5 Service Intervals

I have bought a V 70 ex company car.

The service history shows the car serviced every 10,000 miles.

What is the service interval on a V70 2.5

On the pre 2000 model, the interval is 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first

Post 2000, the interval is 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first

Or, in both cases, according to the service light on the dash.

I would strongly recommend 5-6k mile oil and filter changes though, especially if you intend to keep the car past 100k miles or so.

If its an auto, have the gearbox flushed and oil replaced about every 25,000 miles.

Hi Tim,

why?

My former BMW got fresh oil all (30.000km) 18.000mls, is was sold in best health with 210.000km 131000mls. My recent S60D5 gets an oil service, as sheduled, all 20.000km (12.500) and has just turned the 170.000km (106000mls)

Doing more, shure, does not harm, but does not add health to your car. So all in all, its a waste of money.

It is better not to take the cheapest oil, look at the specifications, and look at the amount of oil in your engine. It is much more harmful to have less oil in your engine, than "old" oil. Some companies here have now oil-services sheduled all 50.000km (31.000mls!!!)

Hint: in new automatic gearboxes you don`t have the change to change your oil yourself, because you need special machines to evacuate the oil out of the gearbox.

Or tap into the oil cooler return lines and have the torque converter do it for you... (I think volvospeed has some details on this)
