Volvo S60 Headlight - Help!

Hi

Can anyone out there tell me how to replace my headlight? I need step by step instructions as I can't see how to get the old one out. Its a

2003 car. Please note - I'm a girl, but fairly capable - but don't know that many technical terms for some of the bits! Thanks a lot!

I did mine recently, and while in theory it should have been easy, getting my hand in there and working was a pain. It's also freezing here so I'm not going to check, but I think there's also a metal retaining ring that must be dealt with. A bit of patience and careful observation and you should be ok.

I've now found out that I have to take the whole bumper off to get it out! Think I might just take it to a garage, but not Volvo - they want £115 + VAT to fit it!

You are talking of replacing the headlight lense then, not just the bulb. If that is true then the bumper does have to come off. Do you have a broken lense or a burnt out bulb?

I actually have a hole in the glass about an inch across, which I have covered with clingfilm and sellotape!

Ouch! We were following a truck in our S80 when the truck's tire exploded sending a large piece of rubber into our grill and of course breaking the headlight lense. Not cheap.

Scary!

Did you hear about the massive oil refinery explosion in Hemel Hempstead (UK)? I noticed my light was broken the same day - I live 2 miles away and we nearly fell out of bed when it exploded! I think something fell off our roof.!

Question that springs to mind is whether or not you can claim this from the refinery's insurers...

Probably not.

To cut down on expenses, check with your local auto-wrecker to get a replacement.

This will cut down but the garage may insist on installing new ($$$$).
