I have a 87 Golf and need to know the layout of the relays. My oil pressure light/buzzer keeps going off and the car has 40+ psi of pressure. I've disconnected the pick-up wire but it still buzzes. Also, I need to check/replace my flasher relay. My owner's manual doesn't give the layout of the relay block.

There are two pressure sensors, high and low. One (high pressure) will open the contact when theres sufficient oil pressure and the other will make contact. So by removing the wire nothing will change. Try grounding the low pressure sensor....

On most 85.5+ VWs there are two oil pressure senders, definitely the case for your golf. Moreover one is a NO type, the other one is NC.

Made a little mistake here. It's the low pressure sensor ( on the cyl head) that's normally closed when there's no or too little oil pressure, 0.3bar. The high pressure sensor is on the filter housing (1.8bar) and is normally open. This one closes when pressure is >1.8bar. If the pressure is < 1.8bar and the rpm is above 2000 rpm for more then 1 min it'll ring the bell!
