I was driving last night & the headlights & wipers stopped working for about five seconds & then came on again this happened twice before I got home 92 golf Diesel TIA

Does your windshield leak and if so then your relays and fuses are all wet and most likely corroded. It's also possible your ignition switch is going bad.
