My driver's door sags when opened, so when you close it it must raise itself, this is creating more wear on the striker, plus it requires more force to close. Is there a way to align the hinges to raise the rear of the door so it properly fits?

Somebody just bought an A3? Just guessing from all the questions.
You didn't mention it, so I'll ask. The hinge pins aren't getting sloppy, are they?
Instead of looking at the door riding up, check the gap around the door. The striker might be out of position.
