Golf GTI MK1 and Golf Cabrio

Can anybody help please. If I needed to replace my Wiring Harnesses on my MK1 GTI, could i use later CABRIO GTI wiring harnesses? I have an 1800 GTI 82/83 with MFA etc.

Up to a certain year you probably can. If it's a CEII car though, probably not. Those were around 1989 or so.
