OEM/VW Radio for 93 Passat VR6 GLX

Jun 09, 2004 3 Replies

Well, as luck would have it, I once again purchased a car without a functioning radio. All the VWs I've owned, I have had a problem with a speaker, radio, etc. I digress...

So I need a replacement. Any ideas? Any brands that I should look into? I just want something that will slip right into place and won't cost an arm and a leg. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I just bought this car (grudingly) and while it is in pretty good shape now, there is a lot that may need to be done to get it in tip-top shape.

I'm sure I'll be back here often.

Thanks

There is an original radio on Ebay, if you want that. Even comes with the code!

I have also easily repaired some non-functioning VW radios, one of them being in a 93 Passat GLX! I was playing it yesterday and it still sounds great! :-)

BTW I have a Sony system in my 91 Passat!

As a general rule....... any radio will fit into any 93 VW. It's a standard DIN size opening. I have had good luck with Denon and Alpine single disc CD players, and would second the recommendation for crutchfield.com - They will throw in a wiring harness so that you don't have to cut the factory plugs off when you install the head unit.
