here in the USA you can get a new windshield installed for maybe $160USD or used for around $100USD or so for a 1991 Passat sedan. Not sure about in the uk.

$160 new is really cheap. You must be in some kind of subsidized living area in the US. :) A new windshield installed goes for around $250+ where I live.

Well I am not sure what glass you get for that price, but the range for a new one install was from $160USD to about $300USD in the Chicago, IL area. Competition will drive the price down. The $300USD price was done at your location with a lifetime 'no-leak' warranty. I have seen some glass that seem to distort your vision some so be careful.

I did the price check in May 2004 before the new city stickers needed to be installed on the windshields. lol
