Radio woes.. redux..

Thanks to those that offered suggestions as to how to fix my radio problem (treble and bass settings unchangeable). I checked with the dealer today about getting the security code for the radio and they're trying to charge me $45 labour for half an hour of labour or something like that. I asked how much if I pull the radio myself and get the serial number off of it, he said it was still $45 because of the leg work the dealership has to do now. It's not as easy as getting the info from the computer system like it was? He's trying to say that he has to call VW up and get it that way. I'm not paying $45 for him to call VW to access information based on stuff I end up finding out myself.

I guess I'll be trying another dealership for this one. Until then, I won't be resetting my radio.. haha..

Hmmm Is there a simple (read inexpensive) procedure that the dealer could do that would involve a battery disconnection? ;-)

If you are in the Toronto area, go to Pickering VW Service dept. and they will give you the radio code for free. You will need to present the radio and the ownership.

Some VW dealerships stink. It only takes a few minutes to do this. I had to do this a while back, and one dealership wanted to charge me $45, too. I just walked into the service department of the other dealership and they did it for me... no charge and only a few minutes time. They will need your VIN and radio serial number. A few calls may save you some time, but sometimes they are willing to do more for you in person. rb
