For VW I suggest Bosh. You might want to replace the wires at the same time unless someone has recently replaced them. It has been a few years since I had a gas VW (I did have a 1970 Beetle for 18 years) I am now working on my second diesel.
I use Bosch platinum in the 1.8 in my Fox. I'm not sure if the +4 variety is worth the extra expense but if money is no object, go for it. They're supposed to last for an insane number of miles so you won't be replacing them any time soon.
Original in the O.P.'s jetta would have been Bosch Silber.
