stiff lug bolts on A4 GTI

I guess the jerks that last worked on my GTI weren't happy that I didn't go for the extra (unnecessary) work they wanted me to have done so they torqued the wheel lugs so tight it was all I could to to get them out using a 24" breaker bar. I had to stand on the bar for a couple of them. (They shall remain nameless but their initials are DuPage Auto Werks in West Chicago.)

Ever since, I have had difficulty with the lugs when changing wheels. A shop that I purchased tires from even commented on it. What do I need to fix this? Are the lugs or the hub harder? In other words, were the lugs or the hub damaged? If it is just the lug bolts, then I could replace them.

Anyone else run into this?

thanks, hank

When the owner doesn't want to buy muffler bearings I get weld the lug nuts on! Suggestion, remove the lug bolts and put spray of WD-40 on the threads to clean all the rust/corrosion out.

The threads are most likely completely F***ed up... This happened on my moms Volvo, some tire shop cranked down on the bolts with the impact gun and messed everything up. Good thing my dad is a tool and die maker by trade - short work was made out of them with a tap and die set, tho three studs had to be changed.
