Hello Everyone,
Our 99 beetle, gas, 47K miles, seems to be developing a thunka clunk noise in the front end. It happens when the wheels ride over relatively small pavement cracks or ridges. All else feels ok... steering is tight, wheels are tight when you shake 'em by hand, no unusual noises when turning or braking, no shimmy or pulling. Its just fine on a smooth road.
It almost sounds like the top of the strut / shock tower is getting loose?
Any ideas? Other things to check?
